What to Expect: The Practice of Nurturing

Class Observation

"As a non-pregnant participant observing Deepa's pregnancy yoga class, I was struck by the calm and welcoming atmosphere she created.

The small class size allowed for individual attention and adjustments, making everyone feel comfortable and supported.

I loved the gentle pace, which allowed me to truly unwind and connect with my own body, and how Deepa linked each exercise to its benefits during pregnancy, labour, and birth. The class incorporated a variety of poses, from gentle swaying on all fours to modified downward dog and wall squats, all designed to stretch and strengthen while accommodating different stages of pregnancy.

The focus on breathwork and relaxation, including yoga nidra, was particularly beneficial. I left feeling incredibly relaxed, calm, and refreshed, and I could see how valuable this class would be for expectant mother's looking to connect with their bodies, prepare for labour, and bond with other pregnant individuals. I highly recommend Deepa's classes to any pregnant person seeking a supportive, empowering and nurturing yoga experience."

1. Luminous movement

We begin with gentle, somatic flows designed to release the tension of a changing body. This isn't just about flexibility; it’s about creating physical space for your baby and finding a "soft strength" that will carry you through birth and into parenthood.

2. Pranic Breathwork

Breath is the bridge between you and your baby. We experiment with specific pranic techniques to calm the nervous system, quiet the modern "pulse," and tap into the vital energy needed for the journey ahead. You will learn to use your breath as an anchor, even in moments of intensity.

Every session ends with a deep, restorative rest. In this silence, I often share reflections or poetry to help you process the emotional landscape of pregnancy. It is a time of pure "being"—a chance to listen to the whispers of your own intuition and bond with your baby in the quietude.

3. Poetic Restoration

Highly recommend Deepa’s pregnancy yoga classes. It was a great opportunity each week to relax and each of the yoga postures/breathing techniques were helpful throughout pregnancy as well as labour. Deepa takes the time to help you with your individual needs and provided great tips for any pregnancy niggles you were facing. It was also nice to talk to other mums and share experiences..”

“I started yoga with Deepa when I was 12 weeks pregnant and it really was amazing. She taught me how to listen to my own body and most importantly the best positions for labour and how to keep calm and relaxed using different breathing techniques.

I had a natural water birth with no intervention or drugs. My daughter is now 3 weeks old and I still use what I have learnt with Deepa everyday. I’m excited to now go to baby yoga with Deepa in a few weeks.
Thank you Deepa xxx.”

— Zahra E

“I have looked forward to my yoga classes with Deepa every week, it is a time for me to relax, breathe and spend time focussing on my mind, body and baby. I find the relaxed and gentle atmosphere that Deepa creates perfect for me and I always leave feeling fresh and calm for the rest of the day. I also really love meeting all the other pregnant ladies and having an open and safe space for us to voice any anxieties and how we are feeling without judgement. I’m really looking forward to putting the techniques I am learning into practice on the big day”

— Laura M

“I did pregnancy yoga with Deepa for most of my second and third trimester. Deepa is fantastic and the classes really helped me address any issues I had, learnt great labour techniques, and most importantly sharing experiences with other ladies where we learnt so much.

I would look forward to this just to get some zen and baby and me connection time. Would definitely recommend!”

  • "Every journey begins with a single breath. Many of the parents I work with start their yoga practice during pregnancy. It is a beautiful time to begin, and I will ensure you feel safe, held, and supported from your very first session."

  • "Just yourself and a bottle of water. I provide a full sanctuary of support, including mats, organic bolsters, blocks, and cushions to ensure your body feels completely at ease. Your only job is to arrive."

  • "To allow your energy to flow freely, it is best to leave 2–3 hours after a heavy meal. However, pregnancy is a time of unique needs—a light snack beforehand is perfectly fine if that is what your body requires."

  • "You can find parking on Abercorn Crescent. You are also most welcome to use the space on my driveway if it is available, making your arrival as peaceful as possible."

  • “Yes, I invite you to experience the practice first. Come for a drop-in session to feel the rhythm of the class; we can find the right pathway for your continued journey afterward."
